Highway Ε65

CALLISTO intervened in order to minimize the effects of the planned construction and operation of Highway E-65 that will connect the Athens – Thessaloniki Highway to the Egnatia Highway, crossing pristine forests and other sensitive ecosystems.

Our opinion is that the suggested plan poses serious environmental threats of spatial fragmentation of the population distribution of large carnivore species, as well as significant loss/degradation of important forest habitats in at least two sectors.
